How do I get help with the initial setup and
configuration of my Cobalt RaQ server?
The most effective way to get started with your RaQ
server is to thoroughly read the RaQ 2 User's Guide. If
you did not receive a hard copy version with your order,
please download
the PDF version for printing or an on-screen
reference.
We've also completed version 1.0 of our Quick Start Guide.
What are the capabilities of a RaQ server?
Each machine can handle over 250,000 emails, and over
10 million web page requests per day. It supports both
domain name virtual and name-based (or "IP-less") Web
hosting, DNS, SMTP (e-mail relay), FTP (file transfer),
and telnet.
For more detail about product capabilities, please
visit Cobalt's site at: http://www.cobaltnet.com/
Where can I get additional support once I've
gotten started?
Support is available through our (online form) or telephone
at 800-699-9748
We also recommend the following resources from
Cobalt's Web site:
- Knowledge Base - contains questions
and answers to many difficult and complex issues.
- Mailing List (Web
archive) - the web versionof
the mailing list.
- Mailing List - send email to: majordomo@cobaltnet.com
with subscribe you@email_addr.com in the body
of the message.
Where can I get pricing information and or
additional sales-related support?
From the Cobalt Networks web site. If you have specific
questions about your Dedicated Hosting needs, please
contact our Sales Team by email to: sales@alwaysonline.net
What are your Support Policies for services and
applications running on my RaQ 2 server?
Currently AlwaysOnline.net only provides Technical
Support for the following core services on RaQ 2
servers:
- Web Server (port 80 - normal "http" requests)
- FTP Server (regular publishing and Anonymous FTP
services)
- FrontPage extensions
(only those configured through the
browser interface)
- Email Services (POP accounts, Email sending/relay,
Email receiving)
- DNS Services (we
encourage users to run their own DNS, but we offer primary services on
request. Please see the FAQ section on Domain Name
Service.)
Note: All of these services MUST be managed via the
browser GUI interface (i.e.
http://your_site.com/admin/)
Is there a list of Supported Applications?
(Cobalt-supported Downloads)
There is no current official list of Cobalt-supported
applications. There are a number of downloadable files
available on their FTP site: ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/
. You should check there often.
If you have an interest in running a particular
application or service that isn't already
installed on your RaQ 2 server, consult Cobalt's support
web site at: http://www.cobaltnet.com/support/. You
can either search their knowledgebase or search through
the archived mailing lists. The mailing lists are
extremely valuable for finding hints and common problems
when attempting to run services like Majordomo (mailing
list software), configure Sendmail (the mail transfer
agent), and modify default settings.
Please note: Once you go outside the
confines of the web browser GUI interface, neither
AlwaysOnline.netnor Cobalt will be able to easily
troubleshoot or support your server if you have
problems. Experiment with extreme caution and when in
doubt, consult your local area Linux
(Unix) or Cobalt
guru.
